Teenage pregnancies a leading cause of school dropouts
Teenage pregnancies are a leading cause of school dropouts (accounting to 25% of dropouts in sub- Saharan Africa according to UNFPA . In Kenya 2 out of every 10 girls between the ages of 15-19 are reported to be pregnant or have a child already. Kwale County in coastal Kenya is one of the regions with highest prevalence of teen pregnancy. Parents are now putting their children on contraception at an early age, some as young as 10 years old, in a desperate bid to keep them in school. The BBcs Mercy Juma reports.
