Godmanstone resident to be 'incredibly unpopular' over 41-mile diversion
It's not often that Dorset grabs international headlines...
But if you pump "Godmanstone" - the village just north of Dorchester - into an internet search engine, you'll see stories on CNN, Fox News and the New York Post.
It's all over a rather long diversion for some roadworks next week. It's more than 3,000 times the length of the closure - 41-miles for a 20m road closure.
大象传媒 Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman spoke to the resident whose building work is the cause of the diversion.
Dorset Council says the official diversion has to be "suitable for the type of traffic that would normally use the closed section", and smaller vehicles "will undoubtedly use lower classified roads to bypass the closure".
