How is ocean plastic affecting our world?
Marine biologist Prof Richard Thompson, from the University of Plymouth, has spent decades studying the harm that microplastics might cause to marine life. His work on plastics in cosmetics led to a UK ban on microbeads in shower gels and exfoliating scrubs and he advised the government to ban single-use plastic bags from supermarkets.
