Turned away from a bar for wearing a hijab
Soaliha Iqbal tried to go into a bar in Sydney, Australia when the doorman refused her entry unless she removed her hijab. She said that his actions left her humiliated and outraged.
Since Soaliha posted online about the incident, the bar got in contact with her and said that they 鈥渦nreservedly apologise" for the "mistake鈥. They said that it was the doorman鈥檚 first shift and he 鈥渘o doubt wanted to impress鈥 by 鈥渃arrying out his duties and responsibilities diligently鈥 to ensure facial recognition. Soaliha says that her face was not obscured and she is wearing a hijab in her ID photo.
