"Becoming a writer is cathartic" - Journey of a Domestic Abuse Survivor
Weymouth Author Donna Anne Pace: 'Making 'something positive out of something negative'.
A social justice entrepreneur from Weymouth has launched an initiative to help support parents and children facing financial hardship or an abusive environment.
Single mum Donna Anne Pace is an author, actress, model and speaker. She is also a domestic abuse survivor who has written a book about her difficult childhood, adolescent and adult experiences called 'The Reinvention of Me'. She told 大象传媒 Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman, "being a writer is cathartic".
Donna also lost her son Jamie to acute myeloid leukemia in December 2010 at the tender age of 12.
Last month, the mother of five decided to start a school uniform bank, where unwanted items are collected and donated free to low income families across Weymouth and Portland. The scheme is called 'Connecting the Community'.
In June this year, Donna was a winner at the 'Successful Women in Business Awards' in the 'Overcoming Adversity' category. Next month she will attend an international conference on domestic violence in Malta on behalf of the Maltese Government.
Donna shared her emotional roller-coaster journey through life with 大象传媒 Radio Solent.
