How much longer can the Hong Kong student protests continue?

Pro-democracy protesters fleeing a fire in Hong Kong's Polytechnic have been arrested. The protesters, most wearing black clothing, set fire to the the university's main entrance to try to stop police entering the building.

Around 500 pro-democracy activists had been trapped inside the building following a tense stand-off with police, who used tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters.

In the past week, the university campus has turned into a battleground as the long-running Hong Kong protests become more violent.

Derek Liu, president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Student Union, says it is hard to predict how violent the situation will get.
