20 years of Chinese rule in Macau

In Macau, China sees a model for rebellious Hong Kong.

20 years after Macau was handed back to China we take stock of the region's economy. We hear from Harry Lai Meng Shan, chief executive of Macau's Lai Si construction. Ricardo Barrios writes on Chinese diplomacy and foreign policy and tells us why Macau is not experiencing the political upheaval of its near neighbour Hong Kong. And Farah Master is a Reuters correspondent in Hong Kong, who discusses whether Macau will be able to diversify away from its current gambling-dominated economy. Also in the programme, UK prime minister Boris Johnson's EU Withdrawal Agreement Bill has easily passed its first stage in the House of Commons. Justin Urquhart Stewart of Seven Investment Management assesses the market impact of the move. Plus our reporter Elizabeth Hotson takes a look at ways to make Christmas celebrations more environmentally friendly.
