Iraq: The Mosul I returned to is not my city anymore
Doctor Hiba was displaced from Mosul after the Islamic State group's invasion of her neighbourhood in 2014. She fled to Suleymaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan with her family after a dangerous journey, and lived there as outsiders in fear of returning. Three years later when Iraqi forces re-took Mosul, Doctor Hiba found the courage to visit her home. But her family house was destroyed, her neighbours were gone and her memories vanished.
Doctor Hiba has not shared her surname because she is afraid of IS fighters who remained in the area.
