Toast To An Old Apple Tree
Exploring the ancient tradition of wassailing in modern Britain.
An exploration of the ancient tradition of wassailing, and its place in modern Britain and the juxtaposition this creates. The word wassail has its roots in the old English for 鈥測our health鈥 and the associated tradition involves the blessing of apple trees to ensure a good harvest. Wassails are generally noisy events with music, shouting and sometimes the banging together of kitchen implements. This rich tapestry of sound complements interviews and soundscapes.
