The fight for cheaper leaseholds
The Law Commission has defended the options it has put forward as suggested reforms to the leasehold system in England and Wales. Campaigners, who want to be able to buy the freeholds to their leasehold properties for a fair price, say none of the suggested options go far enough. Nick Hopkins is the Law Commissioner who wrote the report and came up with the options about how to reduce costs for leaseholders. He told Money Box’s Paul Lewis his report does provide Government with much more clear options about how to make the system work for everyone…
