'The system assumes your parents will help'
If you’re a student, you may well be familiar with that regular phone call to mum and dad explaining that you’ve run out of money and could do with a loan – they may, or may not, take pity on you... But what about students who’ve cut ties with their family?
There is extra support available for young people in this situation, but some estranged students have had problems accessing it. One MSP is now calling on the Scottish Government to provide more help. The Nine's political reporter, David Wallace Lockhart, has more.
