Peat and Diesel formed to play in their local pub but instead sparked Peatlemania, attracting an army of devoted fans across the UK. But who are they and where did it all begin?
In 2018 in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, a fisherman, delivery driver and electrician formed a band to play in their local pub, the Lewis Bar. With no expectations of where the music could lead them it came as a shock to find they were soon selling out huge venues, including the legendary Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow and bagging an award for best live act at the Scots Trad awards. With an army of followers behind them, their devoted fanbase declared that Peatlemania had arrived.
Becoming local celebrities has its challenges however, especially as the band鈥檚 drummer, Uilly, who is a delivery driver by day, struggles to do his daily rounds without being asked for a selfie. Lead singer Boydie, a local fisherman, has also had to make the decision to stay on dry land. Despite the changes to their lives, the three lads, continue to enjoy the ride of finding unexpected stardom in the Western Isles and across the country.
