Locusts threaten Eastern Africa鈥檚 food basket
This is the worst outbreak in 25 years
Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are facing a plague of desert locusts destroying hundreds of thousands of acres of crops in their path.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says this is the worst locust outbreak in 25 years that may spread beyond the three countries currently grappling with the unmitigated threat.
Such threats draw into focus the food insecurity faced not just in the region, but across Africa. 大象传媒 Africa's Senior Correspondent Anne Soy delves deeper to assess the impact of this latest challenge to keeping the continent fed.
Also; mental health issues affects more than the individual. The World Health Organization estimates depression and anxiety costs the global economy $1 trillion annually, while every dollar invested into treatment of mental disorders yields four times the return in improved health and productivity.
