Democrats suffer major blow at Trump impeachment trial
Democrats in the United States have been dealt a major blow in their desire to call witnesses at President Trump's impeachment trial. They needed four Republicans to vote with them to allow witness testimony, but one of the few wavering senators has now said he will vote against the measure. Lamar Alexander, who had been undecided, declared further evidence in the case was unnecessary. His statement could bring an end to Trump's two-week impeachment trial by tonight. Julia Manchester is a journalist working for the American website the Hill. 大象传媒 Newsday asked her how likely it seemed that witnesses would be called.
