Human testing of Coronavirus vaccine to start next month

The Scottish scientist who's leading the race to create a vaccine to fight Coronavirus, says they are ready to start testing the vaccine on humans in April. Dr Kate Broderick, head of development and research at Inovia Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, is leading a team who are using a relatively new type of DNA technology to develop a potential vaccine. She says they were able to design it in just three hours, following the publication of the virus' DNA sequence by the Chinese authorities. Dr Broderick, who's originally from Fife, says that if all goes well, they could move to 'phase 2 testing' involving thousands of people by the end of the year.
