African saxophone legend Manu Dibango died of Covid-19
Saxophone legend Manu Dibango 鈥 best known for his 1972 song Soul Makossa 鈥 is one of the first global stars to die from Covid-19. The 86-year-old fused jazz and funk music with traditional sounds from his home country, Cameroon. A statement on his official Facebook page says his funeral will take place in "strict privacy". It asks people to send condolences by email, adding that a tribute will be arranged 鈥渨hen possible鈥. He spoke to the 大象传媒 about his music.
