The story of Athelstan - first of the Wessex rulers to be considered King of England. The story begins with Athelstan just a boy at the court of Alfred the Great. Later it is believed he spent time in Mercia with Queen Aethelfleda...and after the Battle of Brunanburgh he is considered the first king of all England.
