In response to the pandemic, governments around the world have required their citizens returning from abroad to spend time in a quarantine centre. However, in Africa in particular, this is becoming a problem.

With widespread reports of harsh and unsanitary accommodation, there have been mass-breakouts from quarantine in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe, where police say at least 148 people have escaped from these centres.

Dr Noman Matara is from the Zimbabwe Doctor鈥檚 Association for Human Rights. He's been visiting some of the centres, in Zimbabwe, where people coming from overseas are required to spend 21 days in isolation. So what are conditions like in these facilities?
