What's the future for policing in the US?
US Democrats in Congress have proposed sweeping legislation to reform American police, following weeks of protests against police brutality and racism. The bill would make it easier to prosecute police for misconduct, ban chokeholds, and address racism. But what do officers themselves think about recent events, and plans to reorganise them? Joseph Giacalone is a professor of criminal justice but before that was a detective in New York for more than 20 years.
