'Dancing in the Street' singer on marching for rights
‘Dancing in the Street’ by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas wasn't written as a protest song back in 1964, but it became one when young people in the US took to the streets protesting against racism.
The song has been re-recorded countless times - including by David Bowie and Mick Jagger.
Martha Reeves, now in her 70s, didn't march in the 1960s - but has recently joined the protests triggered by the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police.
"I never thought in my life I would see a murder... the hate that some people have lived and were taught since childhood"
