The incumbent Andrzej Duda has narrowly won the Polish election after a bitter campaign. President Duda, a devout Catholic, believes in traditional family values, but some of his opponents feel he stokes a fear of gay people. Mr Duda has likened the LGBT rights movement as an ideology more destructive than communism. Bart Staszewski, an LGBT activist in Poland and a member of the opposition party, Civic Platform, outlines the implications of Andrzej Duda's victory and how he feels the rights and status of the LGBT community are threatened by the Law and Justice's socially conservative policies.
