Covid-19: Even mild obesity puts you more at risk
In many countries, the current guidance regarding Covid-19 is that heavily obese people (those with a body mass index of more than 40) are at extra risk and so should take extra precautions with social distancing and mask use. Now an Italian study of 500 patients has found than even mild obesity can put people more at risk and advises that anyone with a BMI of more than 30 to take extra care to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Dr Matteo Rottoli from the University of Bologna in Italy explains the research.
