Do we judge women more harshly?
Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested last week, and charged with recruiting girls for Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse. She denies wrongdoing, and has also denied knowing that he was doing anything wrong. Jeffrey Epstein is dead - he died in jail in 2019. News coverage of women accused of aiding and abetting men in their crimes, especially if sexual abuse is involved, provokes very strong reactions. Do we judge women more harshly? Or expect them to be better? Jane Garvey spoke to Baroness Helena Kennedy QC and Naomi Murphy, Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist based at Whitemoor High security prison.
