The British government is set to launch multi-million pound research projects to look into why people from BAME - or Black, Asian and minority ethnic - backgrounds seem to be at higher risk from Covid-19. The research will also examine whether health care workers are particularly vulnerable.

George Aryiku came to the UK from Ghana in the 1970s. He trained as a mental health nurser and worked for the NHS for decades, living in the town of Woking. In April, George contracted coronavirus and passed away at the age of 68.

His daughter Charlene Aryiku spoke to Newsday from South London about her father's life and the importance of the research into coronavirus and people from BAME backgrounds.
