Whether its mosques, churches, temples or gurdwaras – religious buildings help create a sense of community. But coronavirus has disrupted that.
After being shut for months during lockdown, religious institutions are having to change, restricting services and congregational prayer. How will this affect young people’s relationships with holy spaces?
Karanjee Gaba says congregational worship, in the form of kirtan is an important part of Sikhism, while Eniyah Rana, a Muslim vlogger says the mosque will always be a sacred space – regardless of social distancing measures or restrictions - as it helped her during a rocky patch in her personal life.
While dentist Arjun Verma sees the value in Hindu temples, he believes many need to adapt to engage the next generation of British Hindus, and Christian Ruth Yimika Afolabi believes that for some people, faith is better served outside a traditional place of worship.
