Teaching in a pandemic: Why I made the 'agonising' decision to quit
In the United States, schools are reopening but opinion remains divided as to whether it is safe for children to return. Jacob Frantz, a teacher in Arizona describes why he is so concerned about his and his students' safety that he has decided to resign.
'It's one thing to be going through this with leadership that is supportive and listens, it's another to go through it with one who ignores what is happening, who isn't listening to the basic science and isn't doing all they can to keep people safe. The decision to resign has been 'agonising'. It's not just me who's in danger - every single one of my students has been put in danger by being there.'
