Covid-19 testing issues
Reporter Pippa Rifka documented her experience of travelling to get a Covid-19 test
COVID-19 testing issues continue...
Over the weekend the Department of Health and Social Care said testing capacity was targeted at the hardest-hit areas, whilst Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said the government was trying to increase the number of tests available.
People across Somerset have been telling us their stories of struggling to book or have a test.
Including our reporter Pippa Rifka who has been feeling under the weather - and she's catalogued her journey to getting a test and how it all works.
We also asked the department for health and social care for a statement and this is what they said:
鈥淣ew booking slots and home testing kits are made available daily for those who need them and we are targeting testing capacity at the areas that need it most, including those where there is an outbreak, and prioritising at-risk groups.
鈥淥ur laboratories are processing more than a million tests a week and we recently announced new facilities and technology to process results even faster. If you do not have symptoms and are not eligible to get a test you can continue to protect yourself if you wash your hands, wear a face covering and follow social distancing rules.鈥
