Paul Rusesabagina trial: The Rwandan authorities' view
On Monday, Paul Rusesabagina appeared in a Rwandan court charged with terrorism, murder and other crimes.
Mr Rusesabagina is a fierce critic of President Paul Kagame and was portrayed as a hero in the Hollywood movie Hotel Rwanda, which tells the story of his efforts to save hundreds of Tutsis during the 1994 genocide.
He had been living abroad and his family allege he was kidnapped in Dubai and taken to Rwanda.
In a rare interview by the authorities there, Faustin Nkusi, the spokesperson for the National Public Prosecution Authority聽in Rwanda, refused to comment on how Mr Rusesabagina had come to be in Rwanda on the day he was arrested.
