Covid-19: New lockdown in parts of Madrid
Nearly one million people in the southern districts of Madrid have been told to remain in lockdown from Monday 21st September 2021. This is after Covid-19 infection rates soared to much higher levels than in the rest of the country.
The news of a second lockdown caused protests on Sunday in some of the affected areas, which happen to be densely populated and low income parts of the Spanish capital and its suburbs.
