Puppy prices soar in lockdown
Animal welfare groups say lockdown has created a "perfect storm" for puppy sales, with many people thinking this is the ideal time to take on a pet. They are worried about an increase in dog returns and even abandonment as owners go back to work.
The price of puppies has more than doubled during lockdown, with dogs costing almost 拢1,900 on average. The Nine's Nick Sheridan spoke to dog owners, pet sellers and animal welfare charities to find out more about the issue.
