Sea lion's operation for epilepsy
Can you imagine a sea lion drowning in the water? This has happened to 7-year-old Cronutt because he's got epilepsy. Like a number of ocean mammals, Cronutt developed seizures caused by toxins in the sea. Many of these sea animals stranded on land end up dying. But scientists hope a pioneering procedure they just performed on Cronutt could change that.
Mariana Casalia is a neuroscientist at the University of California, San Francisco, and part of the team of doctors who have been treating Cronutt.
