Claudia Mo: Why I resigned from the Hong Kong parliament
Nearly all pro-democracy lawmakers in Hong Kong have quit in protest after four of their colleagues were deemed threats to national security and dismissed. The Chinese government has condemned the mass resignation of most of Hong Kong's opposition from parliament as an "open challenge" to its authority.
Claudia Mo sits as an independent, but has resigned in protest at their dismissal. She explains why she took this step, how she views the future of the pro-democracy movement and what is inspiring the protesters to carry on with their campaign. She says, "We need to be asserting the people's voice" and that this is the "final nail in the coffin of 'one nation, two systems' ".
