A shock for Andrew as Mum stands up, under her own steam, for the first time in more than a year
The last year has seen a gradual but steady decline in Mum's condition because of dementia. She barely speaks, can only manage pureed food and needs help to stand up. Andrew reckons the last time she 'self mobilised' is about 18 months ago. You can therefore imagine his shock at finding Mum standing at the front window adjusting the curtains! She'd got up from her reclining seat and walked across the sitting room. For Andrew it's an 'awakening' of sorts, but proves to be a one-off, a brief but not permanent reconnection of the brain's wiring.
