Dorset kitesurfer 'lucky to be alive' after serious accident off the Jurassic Coast
An experienced Dorset kitesurfer has told 大象传媒 Radio Solent he鈥檚 鈥渓ucky to be alive鈥 after an horrific accident left him with a fractured skull. Will Wade from Bovington lost control of his kite as he slipped while preparing to launch from a grassy area off Portland Harbour. The army officer was left unconscious after he was propelled into the air, then dragged along a stony beach.
Will told 大象传媒 Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman that he wasn't wearing a helmet and paid tribute to several quick-thinking first responders who helped to save his life before he was airlifted to the trauma unit at Southampton Hospital. Remarkably, Will was back at work a week later, but won't return to the water or any form of contact sport for another six months
