Over 40 people were killed in an attack in the Nigerian north-eastern Borno State on Saturday. The attack was thought to have been made by suspected militant Islamists. This is one of the worst attacks in recent months in a region where the Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa insurgent groups are active.

Mallam Musa, lost his 18 year old son in the attack, he told the ´óÏó´«Ã½: "I have sixteen children but Musfau was special. His mother can't stop crying over what happened. He was a hard-working boy who was looking forward to completing his secondary school education and going further."  

Major General John Enenche, a spokesman for the Nigerian military, explains what they have learned about how the massacre came about and what can be done to prevent future attacks.
