Fears grow over unregulated commercial tuna fishing
Alarm is being sounded in conservation circles over the prospect of unregulated tuna fishing. A lack of consensus on how to manage tuna stocks at a recent meeting of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission has raised the possibility of fishing nations engaging in a free-for-all for the lucrative catch.
Faced with the prospect of an unlimited tuna catch, with no closed areas or closed seasons 大象传媒 Newsday heard the concerns of Dr Grantly Galland of the international fisheries programme, The Pew Charitable Trusts:
