Hundreds of Dorset County hospital staff vaccinated at short notice to avoid wastage

The chief Medical Officer of Dorset County Hospital, Alastair Hutchison has confirmed to 大象传媒 Radio Solent that a change in vaccine cold storage protocols by the NHS chief pharmacist resulted in more than 600 hospital staff and care workers receiving vaccinations last Saturday.

The short notice measures were taken to avoid vaccine wastage where doses are unusable after coming out of a freezer with no vaccine candidate available and vials are subsequently discarded or dumped.

Professor Alastair Hutchison also told 大象传媒 Radio Solent's Steve Harris that the current number of Covid-19 patients in Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester has increased slightly on Tuesday morning from 3 last week to 8, and confirmed that Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals, each have around 60 Covid-19 patients.
