"It's frightening times - the first weekend after lockdown we were about 90 per cent down"

Bacaro restaurant on Weymouth seafront was opened at the start of October this year.

Initially, the pizza, pasta and risotto business went well and customer reviews were excellent for the three weeks before the second lockdown. But owner Brett Dunster described the period since Dorset entered tier 2 as "frightening times".

He told 大象传媒 Radio Solent's Steve Harris: "the first weekend after lockdown we were 90 per cent down on the week before we went into lockdown", adding that "people aren't coming out" .

The hospitality sector has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic restrictions and for many businesses, the second lockdown financial support package hasn't been comparable to the business support package that was offered during the first lockdown. Brett added that "we'd be in a better position if we shut and lose money that way rather than open and lose money the other".
