Kenya’s tourism sector bounces back
But global international tourist arrivals this year could fall by 20 to 30 percent compared to last year, whichAnd the World Travel and Tourism Council warns up to 75 million tourism-related jobs are at risk worldwide. Means a 30 to 50 billion US dollars loss in spending by international visitors. The pandemic has slowed tourism in Africa and affected the incomes of hundreds of thousands who depend on it.
One African country that’s pushing to revive its tourism industry is Kenya. International flights resumed recently, and the authorities say the country is ready to receive visitors. Locals are also being encouraged to holiday at home. Tourism is one of the country’s top foreign exchange-earners. Emmanuel Igunza has been to the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
