Secret coral reef found off East Africa
Scientists have discovered a rare ocean refuge for coral reefs in a deep water channel off the coast of East African in the Indian Ocean. The sanctuary has been described as a jewel of biodiversity, and is teeming with spinner dolphins and rare species like prehistoric fish and dugongs.
It appears that these animals have been taking refuge from climate change - that is the warming of the waters which has already killed other animals. Dr Tim McClanahan, the study鈥檚 author and lead Wildlife Conservation Society coral scientist, described the 鈥渕assive swimming pool鈥 to 大象传媒 Newsday.
