Alaska: controversial auction of oil drilling leases given green light
In the US the Trump administration is auctioning off 1.6 million acres of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas companies. The Bureau of Land Management will sell drilling rights from the 6th of January 2021 on Alaska's coast, an area which has been described as America's last wilderness. Many environmental groups are vehemently opposed to the move, including the Wild Earth Guardians, their conservation director is Sarah McMillan.
