大象传媒 Radio Suffolk asked Ipswich Borough council for a response. They sent a copy of their听 Air Quality Action plan, which they say is a 鈥渄etailed report 鈥渨hich shows their 鈥減rogress on implementing measures to improve air quality鈥.

Councillor James Reeder, Suffolk County Council cabinet member for Public Health, said:

鈥渁ir pollution is the largest environmental health risk in the UK, and we take it seriously. 11 specific areas have been identified in the county where air pollutant concentrations are high, five of these are in Ipswich. The county council works closely with district and borough councils with their legal requirements to establish action plans to improve air quality. 鈥

鈥淎s a county council, we run many schemes which promote healthier lifestyles, but which also contribute to reducing air pollution. But as with addressing climate change, every single person has a responsibility to improve air quality across Suffolk.鈥
