Covid: Lamentable response in Venezuela
In an effort to tackle the spread of coronavirus, Venezuela is using something called "7脳7 restrictions". This means a week of quarantine with strict limitation on movement, followed by a week of re-opening to economic and social activity.
The country is well into its second wave of Covid-19 and does not yet have any vaccines to administer. According to John Hopkins University, Venezuela has more than 120,000 cases of Covid-19 and more than 1,100 deaths linked to the virus.
So is this restriction tactic working out? Dr Simon - not his real name - works in the private health care sector in Caracas and he told 大象传媒 Newsday about the issues facing public hospitals trying to contain the pandemic.
