Loughborough Market and Fair marks 800 years of history
On this day in 1221, Young King Henry III granted a Royal Charter to Lord Hugh Despenser, to hold a weekly Thursday market and an annual fair in his town.

With Hugh Despenser long gone, these days the market is run by Charnwood Borough Council.
