Ghana and Jerry Rawlings: my father's legacy
The longest-serving Ghanaian leader who ruled the for nearly two decades died last November. He will lie in state until Wednesday, when his funeral takes place. Behind the scenes, his family, traditional chiefs and political figures have been at odds over the legacy of the former air force officer , who twice overthrew governments but was widely seen by the poor as their champion.
Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, first daughter of the former President, is now a member of Parliament. She speaks to the 大象传媒's Thomas Naadi in Accra, not only on her personal memories, but also about what her father told her about the dramatic events in 1979 when her dad was arrested after a failed military coup.
