'It is a show trial.' Khrushchev descendant joins opposition to Navalny's sentencing
The Russian authorities have detained a further twelve-hundred protesters during demonstrations in support of the prominent Russian opposition activist, Alexei Navalny, who's been sentenced to nearly three years in prison.
One of the many who tried to get to the courtroom is Nina Khrushcheva, academic, writer and also the great-granddaughter of the former Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev. 'The absurdity of power in Russia was Gogolian', she told Newsday.
