Hong Kong: Activists on trial 'will fight on'
Nine pro-democracy figures including the media tycoon Jimmy Lai are appearing in court in Hong Kong today at the start of a ten day trial.
The activists, who include veteran campaigner Lee Cheuk Yan, are charged with illegal assembly linked to an unauthorized protest last year. Mr Lai, who is in jail on remand, is facing multiple separate charges.
We managed to get hold of Lee Cheuk Yan just before the trial started.
"If you ask me whether I will go to jail, I can almost definitely answer by saying 'yes'... going to jail is almost inevitable for me... ever since the national security was passed on July 1st last year, there are more and more cases of absurdity."
