According to the Ministry of Justice, over 10,000 prisoners or children at establishments in England and Wales had tested positive for coronavirus between the start of the pandemic and the end of January.
The pandemic has also meant that family visits, education classes and intervention work has been suspended.
Daz Hale spoke to Vix from Oxfordshire whose partner is currently in prison at HMP Oakwood in Featherstone near Wolverhampton.
G4S who run the Prison say "The health and safety of the people in our care is our top priority. We continue to follow all national guidance as set out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Health England on operating a regime that is safe for prisoners and staff.
During these challenging times, we have implemented initiatives focused on mental health, staying active, and keeping prisoners connected with their loved ones."
