The triathlete who refused to give up after chainsaw attack
Exactly three years after a horrific attack which led South African triathlete Mhlengi Gwala to lose his leg, he's set to compete for the first time as an amputee.
Mhlengi was out training on his bike on 6 March 2018, when three men dragged him into some bushes at gunpoint and attacked his legs with a chainsaw.
He is now back in training with the goal of getting to the Paralympics - an uphill task as many of the races which provide points for qualifying take place in Europe. But he refuses to let any of these setbacks stop him.
"I'm trying to translate from a normal body... so I'm still figuring out how to run, how to cycle. I'm still learning."
