Israel's PM on historic trip to the Gulf
The normalisation of Israel's relations with regional Muslim states has been an important change in Middle East diplomacy. Today Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is heads to the United Arab Emirates to meet the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed.
Israel established formal relations with the UAE and Bahrain last September as part of a US-brokered agreement. Before Mr Netanyahu left, he gave an interview to Lahav Harkov, Senior Contributing Editor and Diplomatic Correspondent of The Jerusalem Post.
"We are nine days before an election and this trip ties in with his statute on the world stage. My sources say he may also meet with the Saudi crown prince, behind the scenes."
